No. The French Office for Integration and Immigration (OFII) will authorise your visa.
No. No textbooks are required. You will only need a notebook and a pen for class. Your teacher will give you assignments where you will not need textbooks.
Registration fees are valid for two years.
In order to change levels, your teacher will have had to notice that your level is not suited for their class. You will have to speak with your teacher or the director to change levels.
Over 90 nationalities are represented at the school. We welcome students from across the world regardless of origin.
French classes take place at Les Cèdres, located at 17 voie de Wissous, 91300 Massy, France.
Classes for beginners open in September, January and May (based on availability).
Non-beginners can start classes at any time based on their level and availability.
Our offices are open Mondays to Fridays from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.
We use the Silent Way, a method used at the University of Tours – the largest university for linguistics in France – with the aim that our students speak French correctly.
This method focuses on oral expression. From the very beginning, our teachers correct all the mistakes their students make (pronunciation, rhythm, sentence structure, etc.).
In addition to classwork to practice your oral and written comprehension, you will be given homework, based on your level, to practice your written French.
Classes: 8:35 am to 11:20 am and 1:35 pm to 3:35 pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
We follow the schedule of schools in Massy so that parents can drop off and pick up their children on time.
We recommend registering at least 3 months before you start classes so you can reserve your spot in class and your accommodation.
Yes. All our teachers are native French speakers who are qualified in teaching French as a foreign language (FLE) and trained in the Silent Way.
We do not provide such an arrangement. You will have to do your own research for this option.
Yes, you can register for 2 weeks or more.
However, it is worth noting that a 2-week course for a beginner will not be sufficient. Short courses are recommended for more advanced students who want to fine-tune their skills.
Yes. We have several housing options for you and your family. Please contact us for more details.
You can send us a message by going to the Contact page or by sending an e-mail to accueil@lescedres.com.
It will be our pleasure to respond to your questions.
The process can be started 6 months before your departure at the most. As our class space is limited, we recommend registering as soon as you are ready. We will provide the necessary documents when you need them.
We will assist you with each of the administrative procedures.
Upon arrival, students have an appointment with the administrative assistant to begin any necessary administrative procedures. It will be necessary to register with OFII and pay a fee of 250 euros.
For more information, visit: https://www.ofii.fr/en/
There is a maximum of 15 students per class and a minimum of 5 students.
It all depends on your level of attendance, the amount of time you spend working on your own and how much you practise French each day.
In general, each level represents 3 months of class.
We respond within 2 working days.
Two months before your visa expires, you must go to the Préfecture to apply for a residence permit (titre de séjour). You will have to make an appointment and provide the necessary documents.

The administrative procedures can be summarised in 3 steps:
- Registration at our school
- France Visa process
- Granting of visa
Yes, once the registration process is complete.
No. Our teachers teach French in French, and do not use English unless absolutely necessary. We believe that the direct method is the most efficient way of learning French. In our experience, translating limits our students’ progress. By translating vocabulary and explanations to try and understand “perfectly”, students choose a seemingly easy method of learning that will prove to be ineffective over time.
The other reason we do not translate is that English is not the only language used by students. Our students represent many nationalities and some may not understand English.
- Citizens of EU member countries: you do not need a visa.
- Citizens of non-EU member countries:
- Stays for less than 90 days: the visa to apply for is the short-stay visa known as the “Schengen visa”. Some countries are exempt from this visa.
- Stays for more than 90 days: the visa to apply for is the long-stay visitor visa.

No, unless you are a complete beginner*. The test allows us to know what your level is and assign a class to you based on your linguistic needs.
(*) A beginner is someone who has never studied French before or who has no knowledge of the French language (ex., if you only know a few words or 2 to 3 phrases at the most).
